Congratulations to Mike Reed who was honored by the Indiana University School of Medicine as their 2018 Staff Person of the Year.
“As part of our graduation ceremonies, the graduating senior residents nominate a staff member at Riley who has made a difference in their experience in residency. This year, the senior class chose to recognize Mike Reed, who stands at the front of Riley Children’s Hospital greeting everyone.”

Award Details:
This award is given each year to a staff member who was nominated by the graduating IU pediatric residency class for service to the children, families, residents, and hospital system.
The award recognizes that many of the most important lessons on how to serve others as a physician are often taught to us by individuals who are not always the staff physician or team leader. Henry J. Heinz said that “To do a common thing, uncommonly well, brings success.”
This award started 14 years ago is named after Bill Barron, more affectionately known as Bill “The IU Operator”. Bill exemplifies how attitude, a mission to serve, and a dedication to give a little extra effort can transform the culture of a hospital, but more importantly can inspire others to pass it onto others.
